Massif Zines - Unidentified Marble Fragments

16.00

Unidentified marble fragments is an investigation into the geological formations and the exploration of forms that a stone, rock or a marble could embody. The marble fragments are incorporated into the everyday objects, buildings, fountains, as well as art pieces or sculptures. These cubes sometimes depict memories from seen and unseen landscapes, mountain massifs, stalagmite caves or the volcano tops. We wanted to oscillate between seen and unseen, the real object and an abstract pattern.

It is also a research into the three dimensional forms that are printed on surface of paper. We divided photographs, collages and graphics into two groups: spatial objects and flat surfaces. Altogether we wanted to create a set of images without clear and obvious connections and make less visible, unidentified relationships of forms, structures and visual symbols.

Massif Zines is a creative collective that self publishes artbooks in a small number of copies.

They work mostly with photography, collages and illustration. They follow their own visual researches about organic forms and geological structures. They enjoy oscillating between seen and unseen, the real object and an abstract pattern.

They are Monika Proniewska and Marta Szewczyk.
